We have entered the Our World Irish Aid Awards. These awards are based on learning about the Global Goals. They helped us to understand the links between our lives and the lives of children and their families in developing countries. Taking part in the Awards gave us a wonderful opportunity to explore development topics and the work of Irish Aid. We looked at all the Goals and studied the eight Irish Aid partner countries, looking more closely at Sierra Leone. Emily’s auntie has worked there and Emily brought in some traditional clothes from there and a painting to show us. She also interviewed her auntie about her work. We loved learning about the Global Goals and how we can bring about changes in the world or in the words of Maya Angelou how we can be a “rainbow in someone else’s cloud”.
